Pilot programme
Kortex is sold through scoped pilots: thirty days, one standing question your team already asks every week, run directly by the Kortex team. This page describes exactly what a pilot is; and how to verify us before you ever get on a call. Sending this internally to the person who signs? Give them the two-page executive summary instead.
What Kortex is
A queryable graph of the world's energy and infrastructure system, power plants, grids, substations, pipelines, ports, dams, mineral deposits, connected to the legal entities that operate and ultimately own them, GLEIF-anchored. The facts are public; the connections are the product. Every response carries per-field provenance (source, method, kind, date) and an audit tier, so an answer can be defended, not just repeated.
Kortex runs before the engineering: it is the evidence layer that decides which sites deserve a POI-grade study, a utility enquiry or a formal application, and it hands the survivors over with their evidence attached. Positioning: research platforms sell forecasts and analyst expertise. Kortex sells the connective tissue between public datasets; a purely quantitative, programmable screening layer that complements existing subscriptions rather than replacing them.
Who pilots are for
- Siting and power-origination teams; interconnection-queue congestion, grid stress, water risk and demand context on candidate regions, in one screen.

What a pilot includes
- Scope written down first. The pilot is defined by one standing question in your words, with success criteria agreed in the first call.
- Full API access under a scoped, revocable key with a credit allowance sized to the evaluation. Every response reports its own metered cost; usage is visible to both sides.
- A weekly 30-minute working session with the people who operate the system; questions answered by the builders, not a success team.
- A live workspace, not a one-off report. Your eval shortlist is saved as an investigation in the workspace: re-screen it as the graph grows, put it on a daily, weekly or monthly monitor, and every verdict change arrives with the driving check named and the old and new receipts chained. Notes and challenges attach to any finding, private to your organisation.
- A fixed-term pilot agreement covering scope, keys, usage limits, confidentiality and fees. Standard drafts available on request; procurement questions are answered at /trust.
- Pilots are paid. A 30-day pilot is £48,000, credited in full against a first annual contract; see pricing.
- A pilot is not the entry point. A free 14-day evaluation API key is issued instantly from the contact form: no call, faceted and insight scope, shown once with a quickstart, plus a private trial workspace (saved shortlists, evidence uploads, daily monitors). Pricing
Priced against the alternative: a senior analyst, six weeks of joining datasets per screen, and the risk of a wrong join surviving into a committee paper.

Siting & power origination

For siting and grid-connection leads at data-centre developers, IPP origination desks and power-first consultancies. We re-screen one live siting shortlist: interconnection-queue congestion, substation proximity; the graph binds 5,800+ existing data-centre facilities to their nearest substation with distance on the edge; plus water stress, conflict and demand context per candidate region, in one traversal.
Succeeds if: it moves at least one site into or out of your top tier, or surfaces a disqualifying fact on a shortlisted site that your existing process had not caught; evidence your team keeps either way. If it does neither, the pilot failed and we will say so.

Compound-exposure screening

For E&S and compound-risk screening units at DFIs, export-credit agencies, and the consultancies serving them. One project portfolio screened for stacked exposures with the per-field audit trail reviewers require, including where the data is thin; stated on the wire, not discovered later.
Succeeds if: the screening output is documentable in your review format with fewer manual lookups than today.

Stated plainly: Kortex is a product of Orkora Ltd. Answers are screening-grade with the uncertainty expressed on the wire; audit tiers say where we are less sure, and our validation studies publish the failures as well as the passes. If your gate requires certifications we do not yet hold, /trust says so explicitly and we will discuss timelines honestly.
